We will not cover everything in the noted chapters, but will try to get a good general feel for the topics.  Should we finish a topic early, we'll move on to other material.  If you have suggestions for other topics you'd like to discuss, please let me know.

6/16/08 For exam 1, you should know the names, formulas, and charges for the following polyatomic ions:  ammonium, hydrogen carbonate (bicarbonate), acetate, nitrate, nitrite, cyanide, hydroxide, carbonate, sulfate, phosphate.  These can be found in Table 5.4.
