Thank you for visiting my website! I am an Associate Professor and Chair in the Department of Biology at Truman State University. I have been here seven years, all of which came immediately after I graduated with a Master's and Ph.D. from the Department of Zoology at Miami University (OH). Before that, I worked as a tutor in the Athletic Department at the University of Kansas. And prior to that, I completed my Bachelor of Science at Bethel College (KS). I am originally from Washington State (the eastern side), where I grew up on an expansive wheat farm. My childhood consisted of driving big machinery, exploring the sagebrush steppe, and playing in the dirt. As a high-schooler, I played football, raced motocross cycles, and was active in the Advanced Biology Club at Ritzville High School. My interest in biology led to undergraduate research on amphibian populations while I was at Bethel College. I also met my future spouse at Bethel College. I am now married and have two children: Benjamin (born in May 2003) and Emma Jane (born in August 2007). In addition to my rewarding job as a professor, I am also the founder of Campus Talk Productions (LLC), a production company that produces support materials for higher education. To learn more about Campus Talk Productions, please visit its website (debuting in December 2008). Click here for my professional CV (pdf).
