Anatomy Fellows
The position of an Anatomy Fellow is of higher ranking than the Anatomy Teaching Assistant. The Anatomy Fellow has a number of additional responsibilities, involving a combination of the following:
1) supervises a group of Teaching Assistants,
2) leads laboratory lectures on various topics,
3) primary contributor to a gross anatomy research project,
4) prosection (i.e. layered dissection) of the cadavers.
Thus, for an Anatomy Teaching Assistant to be promoted to a Fellow, he/she must show an exceptional level of ability in their position, have leadership skills, and/or have a desire to conduct a gross anatomy research project.
Anatomy Teaching Assistants
A Teaching Assistant for BIOL 365 - Human Anatomy Lab holds a position of great achievement and honor. To obtain the position of an Anatomy TA, the student of the course must have performed very well in both the lecture and laboratory sections. Along with mastery of the information these students have shown enthusiasm for the material, a desire to further their understanding of human anatomy, and a desire to share this hard-earned knowledge with others. The duties of the Anatomy TA are as follows:
1) assist the professor in teaching laboratory sections of the course, which requires the TA to locate, demonstrate, and describe the structures of interest
2) conduct open labs to provide study time and tutoring for the student
3) act as a liaison, when needed, between the professor and the student
4) aid in the maintenance of the laboratory
