Post-Exam Exercise

You may earn back a fraction of the points you missed on the in-class exam by answering certain questions correctly.  Note that the total number of points is larger for people who did poorly initially and smaller for people who did well, but it behooves you to work these problems in any case.  The fraction of points that can be earned back will be determined by the instructor such that the final class average for the in-class exam falls in the middle C (~75%) range, but this may be reconsidered depending on subsequent test scores.

The general rules are as follows.

1) You are to work alone.  You may not ask anyone, except for me, any question about this exam or the material on it.  You must also sign the affirmation at the end of the answer sheet that states that you abided by these rules.

2) No question on the exercise requires a complete sentence (a number, a Yes/No response, or an equation, depending on the question, is all that is needed).  However, the answer must be perfectly correct (number, unit, significant figures) to be counted.

3) The answer sheet on which you are to write your answers and a copy of the questions from the exam to be answered will be provided at the end of the exam, or as soon thereafter as possible.  Answer all questions, even if you received full credit (or you think you received full credit) for your answer originally! Attach sheets showing your work using only one side of each sheet. Remember, if no work is included, no credit will be given.  Do not attach the sheets containing the questions!

4) The exercise is due by 5:00 PM  on the date that is listed on the answer sheet.

Failure to follow these rules may result in zero bonus points being awarded.

One final word of advice: read the questions very carefully!  They may have been changed slightly from the version on the in-class exam and new questions may have been added.
