Introduction
Chemistry is the common language in all areas of science which attempt to understand Nature at its most basic, easily manipulated level. To develop a fluency in this language, you must develop the necessary vocabulary and practice using it. During this semester we will do this in the lecture and laboratory sessions, but if you wish to do well in the course it is critical that you practice outside of class.
Work to do on Your Own
It is expected that you will work all of the end-of-chapter problems. Answers for the odd-numbered “Problems” and part b of the “Exercises” are in the back of the book and are worked out in the optional student solutions manual. If you get stuck on a problem, flag it as one to ask me about in office hours or in the C3 . You are also free to ask another faculty member about it in the C3 . Remember that I will draw most quiz questions and some exam questions from the book problems.
Take-Home Portion of the Exams
Links to PDF versions of the take-home portion of each exam will be posted on the Announcements page after it has been handed out in class. The answers will be posted on the Keys page after the post-exam has been returned.
