Welcome to my home page. I am an Associate Professor of Biology with an emphasis in plant biology, especially plant systematics and evolution. Here are some of the things I do at Truman: - I teach a variety of courses, including Introductory Biology I and II, Biology Freshman Seminar, Plant Taxonomy, Local Flora, Economic and Medicinal Botany, Plant Anatomy, and Comparative Plant Morphology.
- I curate Truman's Herbarium which is a collection of about 23,000 dried, pressed, plant specimens collected from Missouri and elsewhere starting in the late 1800s.
- I manage the Gaber Solar Clock Garden, located on the south end of Magruder Hall.
- I serve as the Faculty Advisor for the recently formed PLANTS! student organization.
If you have an interest in plants and/or are interested in getting involved with the herbarium, Clock Garden, PLANTS! group or if you just have questions about the classes I teach, let me know. I'm happy to talk with you about your interests.
