After three semesters of basic Physics and Calculus, candidates for
the Bachelor of Science in Physics study Modern Physics, Electronics, Classical
Mechanics and Electromagnetism, Statistical Mechanics, and Quantum Mechanics.
In addition, students do Advanced Laboratory work, and participate in at
least two semesters of research. (All students must present their research
at Truman's Undergraduate Research Symposium, and many present at state-wide
or national meetings.)
Students who successfully complete the Bachelor of Science in Physics at
Truman are well prepared for graduate work in a quality program. Recent
physics graduates from Truman are in or have completed graduate programs
at, for example, University of California at Berkeley, University of Colorado,
Oregon State, Ohio State, Iowa State, Cornell, University of Missouri,
and Washington University.
