BA in physics through a 3+2 Program
at Truman State University
Truman State
University provides
opportunities for students to earn a BA in physics degree through a 3+2 program. The BA in physics through the 3+2 program
is set up to mirror the physics and LSP requirements of the standard path of BA
in physics at Truman. To earn a BA degree from Truman a student satisfies
physics, language and LSP requirements in addition to physics electives and a
learning plan. The learning plan
provides flexibility to students in charting a set of courses to prepare them
better for future careers in medicine, law, engineering or other
professions. While the physics
electives and learning plans in the regular path of BA are satisfied by courses
at Truman approved by physics faculty, a student in the 3+2 program is allowed
flexibility of completing them at an Engineering school with courses approved
by the Truman physics faculty. Typically a student in the 3+2 program submits
his/her proposal for the learning plan and the physics elective substitution
courses to the Engineering Program Coordinator in the physics discipline
(currently Dr. Mohammad Samiullah) who sets up a committee to review the
request whose recommendation is further reviewed by the Dean of Science and
Vice President of Academic Affairs for full approval. In this web site you will find a
Graduation Checklist, and Approval Form and Degree Worksheet. The degree
worksheet must be completed and submitted to the Registrar. A student
interested in 3+2 should follow the following steps.
1. Indicate
his/her intention to his/her academic advisor.
2. Consult
the Graduation Checklist and Degree Worksheet, and plan courses
accordingly. See the links below.
3. Complete
the Degree Worksheet and submit to the Registrar.
4. Complete
the Approval Form and submit to the Engineering Program Coordinator.
5. Keep
the Registrar and the Engineering Program Coordinator informed of any further
developments afterwards.
