Mathematicians and wannabe-mathematicians have played a role in
the selection process for the Bowl Championship Series since 1998. So-called ``computer
polls" have been around almost as long as college football itself. In my
talk, I will give an overview of the BCS rankings, and discuss one of the
new BCS computer polls in detail. Knowledge of some elementary linear
algebra is helpful, but not necessary.
