| Scott Alberts is in his eleventh year at Truman teaching statistics. He
also serves as director of the Truman Portfolio Project
and active in the Center for Applied
Statistics and Evaluation. He believes that statistics should be used to make the world
better. He researches quantitative methods for measuring behavior and
decision-making, and the general process of data collection as a part of
real-world projects. He frequently serves as a consultant and evaluator
to the research of others, across a wide range of disciplines. His own research investigates mathematics
anxiety, and looks to find ways to reduce anxiety in ways that also improve mathematics performance. He is also active at Trinity Episcopal Church, where he serves as the choirmaster and music coordinator. When not working, he likes games and puzzles, intellectual banter, good music, and bad television. His wife Hyun-Joo Kim also teaches statistics here at Truman and they juggle schedules so they can handle their two small children. |
