Accessing GUIcat

• Open the Cataloging and Scanning Workstation
  1. Click the GUIcat icon.
  2. Enter your initials and password.
  3. Click OK.
• Open a bibliographic record
  1. Select a search method from the pull-down menu.
  2. Type text into the adjacent box.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. If more than one record meet your criteria, you will get a results list. Click on a line in the list to bring up a record.
• View item records
  1. Open the bibliographic record to which the item is attached.
  2. Along the bottom of the GUIcat window are four manila-folder-style tabs. Click on the tab that reads "Item: ..." [Or: Press F10]
  3. The items screen will show critical information about attached items, with each item on a separate line. To view one of these items, double-click on the numbered grey box at the left end of the line.
• View order records
  1. Open the bibliographic record to which the order is attached.
  2. Along the bottom of the GUIcat window are four manila-folder-style tabs. Click on the tab that reads "Order: ..." [Or: Press F11]
  3. The items screen will show critical information about attached orders, with each order on a separate line. To view one of these orders, double-click on the numbered grey box at the left end of the line.
• View checkin records
  1. Open the bibliographic record to which the checkin record is attached.
  2. Along the bottom of the GUIcat window are four manila-folder-style tabs. Click on the tab that reads "Checkin: ..." [Or: Press F12]
  3. The items screen will show critical information about attached checkin records, with each checkin record on a separate line. To view one of these checkin records, double-click on the numbered grey box at the left end of the line.
