Fixed Fields in the Item Record

Some things to understand about the fixed fields:

Most fixed fields have a drop-down list of options. So don't panic; just click in the box and choose from the list.
Fields in blue cannot be edited. If everything is in blue, you probably have another copy of the item open.
Fields in red are invalid values, and must be changed before III will save the record.

What you absolutely must correct in the fixed fields:

ICODE2
ITYPE
LOCATION
STATUS
IMESSAGE
OPACMSG
AGENCY

Most of these values can be set and saved in a template.

The "suggested values" below are suggestions for a generic item record template. Do not apply or accept these values indiscriminately. You must consider carefully each item and decide what values are appropriate for each field. Create multiple item record templates with different values to address different cataloging situations.
