Exporting records from OCLC to LANCE

NOTE: These instructions assume that you are using the Passport software, and that you have changed the session settings to export to lance.missouri.edu. If you have not changed these settings, check here for instructions.

Export from OCLC to LANCE: overlay

  1. Find the LANCE record you wish to replace and note the bib record number (e.g. .b12345678)
  2. Copy any notes or access points (5XX, 6XX, etc.) that will need to be carried over into the new record.
  3. Exit the LANCE record. NOTE: This is important. If the record you wish to overlay is "in use by the system," OCLC will not overlay the record, but will create a duplicate instead.
  4. Find the OCLC record you wish to use.
  5. Edit the OCLC record as needed. Add any notes or access points that need to be carried over from the LANCE record.
  6. Type the following at home position:

    [Ctrl-|]99 [two spaces] 949 [five spaces] *recs=b;bn=[bib-level code for your institution];ov=.b________; [F11]

(Fill in the blank with the bib record number you noted above)

  7. At home position, type "xpo [F11]"

Export from OCLC to LANCE: don't overlay

  1. Find the OCLC record you wish to use.
  2. Edit the OCLC record as needed.
  3. Type the following at home position:

[Ctrl-|]99 [two spaces] 949 [five spaces] *recs=b;bn=[bib-level code for your institution]; [F11]

  4. At home position, type "xpo [F11]"
