Creating a New Checkin Card


Note that a checkin card can only be created when a checkin record already exists. Catalogers will create checkin records. If serials staff should need to create a checkin card where a checkin record does not yet exist (for example, a second copy for binding or routing), give to cataloger.


  1. Select the "Card" tab.
  2. Choose "Create Card." A "Create Card" dialog box will appear.
  3. Complete the various fields in the dialog box.
    1. "Expected date" should be set to today.
    2. "Cover date" and "Enumeration" reflect the earliest issue in hand.
    3. "Unit of binding" defaults to the number of issues in a volume. Change as appropriate; enter "0" for serials Truman does not bind.
  4. Click "Submit."
