Welcome! I am an assistant professor of biology at Truman State University. I teach the following classes: - BIOL 100 (General Biology)
- BIOL 107 (Introduction to Biology 1)
- BIOL 108 (Introduction to Biology 2)
- BIOL 300 (Genetics)
This past spring, I also taught a bioinformatics course for the first time (cross-listed with Computer Science). My research focuses primarily on developing new curricular materials and modules for mathematical biology education. Much of this work is conducted through collaboration with other members of the BioQUEST Consortium community. Dr. Pam Ryan (Mathematics) and I are also mentoring a math-bio research project by undergraduates Dianne Kopp, Karen O'Connell, and Spencer Tipping. Please use the tabs above to learn more about my teaching and research. UPDATE: Research Opportunities and Reading List from Dr. Charlie Sing In a recent visit, Dr. Charlie Sing from the University of Michigan Medical School discussed current challenges in the philosophical basis of genetics work. In his seminar and subsequent Q&A session, he referenced a number of books and articles. Per student request, these readings are listed here . This site is still under construction. Please excuse the pages that still need work!
